Hair Care Tips

Hair Grows Back

When it comes to hair care, there’s nothing that a little vinegar can’t fix.

That’s right… I said VINEGAR. Highlights and shining hair are as close as your cupboard.

If you have a choice between spending a fortune on costly hair care or forking out a buck and change for a bottle of vinegar, why sour your bank statement?
Vinegar allows you to also repair damaged and dry hair as well. And the natural acids found in vinegar gently clear build up.

So why not make vinegar your saving grace with these touch-up tips?

1. Add 4 teaspoons of vinegar to 2 tablespoons shampoo and thoroughly massage head while shampooing.

2. Use white vinegar for blonde highlights, raspberry vinegar for redheads, and balsamic vinegar for dark hair.

3. Apple cider vinegar will thoroughly remove excess shampoo and conditioner when used as a final rinse. Mix with an equal amount of tepid water if desired.

4. Reinvigorate highlights by combining a half-cup white vinegar with a half-cup lemon juice and leave in 10 minutes before shampooing.

5. Combine 1/4-cup wine vinegar to 1/4-cup soy sauce to give subtle coloring to dark hair. The soy sauce not only has protein for strength, but also brown pigment. Leave on 15 minutes before washing out thoroughly.

Cancer causes hairloss.
Cancer does not cause hair loss. Hair loss is a side effect of cancer treatments, like chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Not everyone who has chemotherapy.

Hair Loss and menopause

Filed under: Hair Loss Information — Marilyn Robinson @ 1:56 pm

Is there a relationship between hair loss and menopause?

The most common cause of hair loss is low thyroid function, which is common among menopausal women. Other causes include, but are not limited to: changes in hormone levels (decrease or increase), increased testosterone, increased stress (physical or emotional), various medications, scalp/dermatological issues and heredity. Any time sudden hair loss is experienced, one must consider events which took place up to three months prior to the hair loss, as factors affecting hair loss can often take up to three months to have an effect, i.e., were you diagnosed with something new in the past few months? Did you start taking medication during the past few months? Did you go through a traumatic experience (death of a loved one/friend, divorce and any other event that can be categorized as ‘traumatic’). Subsequently, any treatments for hair loss should be given at least three months to have noticeable effects.
