Gratitude is the heart's memory.
                    - French Proverb

It has been my pleasure over the last few years to meet and work with thousands of women from all over the world. I want to share just two of many stories how Headwear etc. has been able to improve the lives of women with hair loss.

One consultation I remember well…
A lovely young woman came to see me with her head hanging and her eyes riveted on the floor. She had a high-level administrative position in a well-known university, and her face was disfigured from a recent surgery, which removed her ear. I picked out a blue scarf to match her eyes, showed her how to tie a large bow that obscured the wound, and added a dangling earring on the other side to balance the bow. She left with her head high and smiling. I knew then that I had to open a boutique online and share my experiences with women all over the globe.

Sydney Seaward, CNN & NBC anchorwoman & dear friend
The career of Sydney Seaward, a native Californian, spanned more than a decade in television and radio. Seaward skyrocketed to national recognition as a news anchor on international short-wave and National Public Radio. In a matter of months, she launched her career in television and became first national journalist to land an exclusive interview with Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos after their exile from the Phillipines.

Seaward was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 1994, and after that faced mankind's three major fears--cancer, brain surgery, and death--with grace and courage. Her main focus was wellness and teaching people that they have an innate ability to turn adversity into opportunity…that they can "beat the odds." She carried her courageous message to readers nationwide through dozens of publications such as Redbook Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, the Houston Chronicle, and The New York Times.

Sydney and I met at a fund raising dinner where the proceeds were to be donated to a well-known Foundation for Cancer research.

Sydney was the guest speaker, presenting her courageous battle and journey living with cancer. Her career as a network anchorwoman had ended after she lost her hair while undergoing chemotherapy. During treatment, she appeared on national TV wearing a wig and television viewers called with questions about the change in her appearance. Not realizing that her appearance was her identity, she removed her wig on national TV in response to viewer questions and her career ended abruptly.

Sydney and I spent time over dinner discussing the appearance issues of today, The next day Sydney called me requesting help in finding her an attractive wig and hair style. I introduced her to my wig stylist, we chose her favorite wig style, and after that Sydney became the spokesperson for Headwear etc.
